Rising soprano, Christin Wismann, is equally at home on the operatic stage as she is in recital. In 2007 she was a national semi finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions where she was filmed for the 2009 Met documentary The Audition, which was broadcast nationally. She has also recently garnered awards in other such prestigious competitions as the 2009 Gerda Lissner, 2008 Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, and the 2008 Jose Iturbi Foundation Competition.

Some of Ms. Wismann’s roles have been Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Alessandro in Eliogabalo(United States Premier, under the baton of Jane Glover), Solvieg in Grieg’s Peer Gynt, Violetta in La Traviata, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspiel Direktor, Leatitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, and Angelina in Trial by Jury. Also, in the past years, at Juilliard, she has covered Euridice in the Juilliard Opera Center’s production of Orphée aux enfers and Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera.
In May 2008, Ms. Wismann served as a representative of The Juilliard School and the United States in the International Music Festival of Kyoto, Japan where she was presented in a series of concerts. She has been a fellowship recipient of both the Aspen and Tanglewood Music Festivals, where she was given the unique opportunity to work with such operatic legends as Dawn Upshaw and James Levine. In 2009 she was a Gerdine young artist at the Opera Theater of Saint Louis, where she covered the role of Marie Antoinette in John Corgliano’s Ghosts of Versailles. Ms. Wismann then went on to take part in the opera’s European premier at The Wexford Festival in the role of 2nd Gossip. This coming summer, 2010, she will be debuting the role of Marie Antoinette in the Ghosts of Versailles’ Colorado premier with the Aspen Opera Theater. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and a Master’s from The Juilliard School in New York.
Ms. Wismann is a native of Los Angeles, California, and currently resides in New York City.
